It was particularly nice to go into this delivery without another 36 hours of hard labor leading up to it. Dan was much calmer this time. Knowing what to expect helped a lot.

He was particularly struck by the relative calm with which the task was performed. Last time, we were in and out of surgery in a real hurry because of the "fetal distress" diagnosis. This time, the atmosphere was considerably more relaxed. Dr. Nancy Hammond, the OB who delivered Erin three years earlier, also attended as an assistant, and it was a very pleasant experience for everyone.
