So there we were... Scheduled for delivery and in the hospital, nice as you please, waiting for the appointed hour. Honestly, why would people ever do things any other way? We were able to plan how to handle Erin's stay away from home the night before (thanks to "Aunt" Laurie, "Uncle" Tim and Miranda, who put Erin up for us the previous night). We even had a chance for some last minute socializing at Greykell's house prior to delivery. Betsy took the opportunity to drink as much fluid as possible, so that she had the best chance at a left-hand IV instead of losing her right hand for 24 hours plus - a successful endeavor (as you can see in the photo). She must have downed about a gallon of water and natural soda. Lucky she didn't float away! We even got to play some games prior to going home. We arrived at the hospital bright and early (7am), and were prepped and ready to go into surgery right around 8:45am. This photo (Betsy, just before surgery) and the next three photos were taken prior to the actual surgery. |
