Home

It's been a long while since we updated this page. We had a bunch of stuff in the works, and work has been, well, interesting. Note that we've moved all the general links to our Links Page, and the rest of this page is now more descriptive.

For up-to-the-month information, visit our What's New page.

Who are we?

The Delaneys of the house formerly known as Hawkeswood live in a suburb between Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C. We have quite a few interests and activities in which we try to participate on a regular basis. (Though the arrival of Erin has certainly made participation in these activities more challenging!) The house we knew as Hawkeswood was sold in May, 2001. We don't have a name for the current place yet, but our home on the web remains Hawkeswood Productions.

Erin

Erin is fast approaching her second birthday. At ~23 months, she's picking up new things with a speed that's simply amazing. She has her own page, which we try to keep up-to-date with recent photos. (We're not doing so well there, either, but we hope to improve soon.)

Theatre, Theater and Festivals

We both enjoy trips to the local festivals throughout the region. Dan favors celtic and Scottish fests, while Betsy prefers music. Erin's not sure what she likes yet, but we think she'll enjoy all of it. We try to attend the Maryland Renaissance Festival, though we missed it in 2000 & 2001 - Hot weather and pregnancy/small children don't mix!

We also like to watch movies a lot. Our personal Video Collection consists of an interesting and unusual assortment of movies and tv shows, some of which are impossible to find in video stores anywhere. We are very slowly converting the collection to DVD format, widescreen preferred. (709k - Note that the database isn't searchable - yet! We're working on that!)

We have subscribed in the past to the Shakespeare Theatre, and have also attended shows at Arena Stage (where Betsy once worked) and the National and Warner theatres.

We barely managed to see Dralion, the latest touring Cirque du Soleil show. We haven't seen much else in the way of shows recently.

For more information about things we find entertaining in general, check out our Entertainment Links.

Travel

In the late summer of 1999, Betsy and Dan took a roadtrip through the heart of the west. Our main stops included: San Antonio and San Angelo (Texas), Albuquerque and Santa Fe (New Mexico), The Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Flagstaff Arizona and the Grand Canyon (Arizona), Four Corners, Silverton and Aurora (Colorado), and more. For lots of details about this trip, and about our drive to Nova Scotia in September, 1998, visit our Travels page, coming soon.

Other Events and Stuff

We are both members of Markland and also play occasionally with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). We like to attend historical re-enactments and sites, including St. Mary's Citty, Jamestown and Williamsburg, Harpers Ferry, and other local sites. Check out our History/Military links for more info.

Our Wedding

We were married on Saturday, September 20, 1997 at Algonkian Regional Park in Sterling, Virginia. You can read the Photo Essay in five parts:

or read The Story of the Wedding Dress.
